The Bonsai Society of Australia and The School of Bonsai are proud to present International Stylist: Marija Hajdic
Marija Hajdic is a talented bonsai professional from Croatia, and is considered one of the most influential bonsai artists outside of Japan. She has honed her craft over the past 20 years learning from bonsai professionals including Walter Pall, and has a passion for deciduous yamadori.
Marija is well-known across Europe and the international convention circuit. Her frequent displays trees at many of Europe’s premier exhibitions, has included winning recognition at the 2019 Noelandar’s Trophy, with her tree “The Emperor”.
Marija combines bonsai technique with an amazing ability to appreciate form, to develop stunning bonsai from collected material. She believes bonsai to be living sculpture, shaped by the artist and inspired by nature, but with the final “image” belonging to the viewer.
The Bonsai Society of Australia and The School of Bonsai have been lucky enough to secure two days on her upcoming Australian tour for a Public Demonstration and Paid Workshops.

Sean Hood Demonstration: Saturday 6th Sept 11am
Sean is an extremely talented bonsai artist who has been practising bonsai for over twenty years. From a modest beginning in a small nursery on the Central Coast and a period of study with Lee Wilson, Sean is now a popular demonstrator whose work has been represented in the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection in Canberra.
He enjoys everything about bonsai, from putting the first bend into young trees to working on old collected material. “A great tree can be made from any material with time and good technique”.
Sean is equally comfortable working on spectacularly massive olives and water gums, as he is creating Shohin pines or maples.
